Penn State Bedroom

Penn State Bedroom

Housing options are available at every Penn State campus giving you a place to live and to learn.

Make yourself at home.

Part of life at Penn State is where you eat, where you sleep, and who you hang out with.

It's what we call "Residence Life." Think of it as one of the aspects of Penn State that turns a campus into a community. Your community.

Each of Penn State's 20 undergraduate campuses--whether they have on-campus housing or not--cultivates that sense of community through spaces on campus where students can meet and mingle.

So, meet the neighbors. Grab a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. And make yourself at home.

Penn State Housing Options

Each Penn State campus has its own housing options. While first-year students at University Park and students not local to Penn State Behrend have to live on campus, the other campuses that offer on-campus housing do so on a first-come, first-served basis. To determine which campus has the best living environment for you, check out the options below.

Campuses with on-campus housing

On-campus housing includes dormitory-style residence halls and apartment complexes.

  • Penn State Abington
  • Penn State Altoona
  • Penn State Beaver
  • Penn State Berks
  • Penn State Brandywine
  • Penn State Erie
First-year students not from Erie County or with a permanent residence more than 30 miles from campus are guaranteed on-campus housing and are required to live on campus.
  • Penn State Greater Allegheny
  • Penn State Harrisburg
  • Penn State Hazleton
  • Penn State Mont Alto
  • Penn State Schuylkill
  • Penn State University Park
First-year students at University Park are required to live on campus and are guaranteed housing.

Living on campus=Higher GPA? It's not a guarantee, but studies have shown that students who live on campus their first year do better in the classroom right from the start. That's just one of the benefits of living on campus, according to the University Park Housing office.

Campus with privately-owned housing

Privately-owned apartments and housing complexes can be found in every community where a Penn State campus is located.

But the campuses listed below have nearby housing--often just a few steps away from campus--developed specifically for Penn State students.

  • Penn State DuBois
  • Penn State Fayette
  • Penn State New Kensington
  • Penn State Scranton
  • Penn State Wilkes-Barre
  • Penn State York
